Šmalec's Alphabet

This ABC book, by one of the most original Czech illustrators, continues in a well-known Czech tradition begun in the 1930's. Unbelievable, sometimes comic, other times classic, occasionally surreal, but always explicable tales on full page picture spreads accompanied by excellent contemporary poetry.Petr Smalec teaches children with humor and intelligence and isn't afraid in his playfulness to touch on some major issues.
