Radek Malý, born on July 24, 1977, in Olomouc, is a Czech poet, children's book author, and translator. He studied German and Czech studies at Palacký University. Malý works as a university lecturer, translator from German, poet, and author of children's literature. He has published poetry collections including Lunovis (2001), Vraní zpěvy (2002), Větrní (2005), and Malá tma (2008). He translates the poetry of Georg Trakl (the selection Autumn Soul was published in 2005 by BB Art) Erich Kästner, Rainer Maria Rilke, Paul Celan, Hugo Sonnenschein, and others. Among contemporary poets, he has translated works by Karel Lubomirski (the selection Bird Above the Burning Forest, BB-Art, 2003) and also focuses on translations of medieval German love songs.
