Monkey Rhymes

Monkey Rhymes is a small collection by prosaist, poet and musician Marka Míková. In sixteen poems, she tells the tale of her life with a monkey which she acquired by poetic coincidence... The little monkey guides us through the author’s daily life, making mischief and reveling in the world as it goes, and we aren’t always sure which of the two characters is really the most sensible – the human or the ape? Artwork by Chrudoš Valoušek (Puppet, Plum Pit, Plum, Log and Back to Puppet) accompanies Marka Míková’s poems, though they do not so much illustrate the text as continue the storytelling with their own sense of humor. In the true sense of the word, Chrudoš rhymes the stories and makes them more approachable for child audiences.
