Josef Štefan Kubín
Jičín, 1864 – Praha, 1965
Writer
Josef Štefan Kubín was a writer and collector of oral folklore. Throughout his life, he collected and tirelessly recorded thousands of folk tales and anecdotes from the Podkrkonoší region, publishing them in their raw form and the robust dialect of the area. His vivid, original approach to language and storytelling of ordinary people was later similarly utilized by Bohumil Hrabal.
