What would happen, if...
A newly published, last but one of the series of original bilderbuchs of a painter and writer Daisy Mrázková Co by se stalo, kdyby... is published in a new graphic design and thanks to contemporary technical possibilities also with better reproductions.Daisy Mrázková can truly look at the children's world with children's eyes: this big format book, as she herself says, she dedicated to children who don't know how to read yet and to their parents so that they can look at the pictures and speak about it together. What should be a non-violent guidance to read, with simple, curious questions coming from children: What would happen, if I went out without my coat... What would happen if I had my own plane, What would happen if I were as small as an ant, What would happen if I crawled into a cave... and the author answers with civil fantasies and drawings and colorful dreaming. I would catch a cold, I would have to lie in my bed and I would read a lot of books, I would fly wherever I'd please, above the clouds, anywhere... I would easily look at everything from up close... The book of Daisy Mrázková is just like that: you can have a close look and see a lot of beautiful things. The eleven book series of original books of a painter Daisy Mrázková, which were being published at the end of '70s and beginning of '80s, is one of the best which was published during the second half of 20th century. Daisy Mrázková geniously combined an abstract, fragile world of her paintings and gouache with a tedious, almost as classic English drawings and a text bordering on poetry and prose. Her books are loved by children because she succeeded , by a simple story-telling, portraying of big topics: friendship, sadness, loneliness, goodness, happiness, care for little things, which adults usually pay no attention to and through intimate little stories and motives she showed all that: a newly found teddy bear who needs being taken care of, walks, animals, queations and family stories.
