Markéta Šimková, Petr Šmalec / Zik and Cháta

This small little tale of an almost disastrous character is part of a series of authors’ books for the youngest reader and it would not be Petr Šmalec if he failed to enchant the adults as well. Zik and Cháta roam the world when the disaster hit but Cháta saves her friend everywhere they go, from Kroh to Rapan, or Fimonka to the city, or a busted watch to Mesár... Will she win the mayor’s gold cap?

The photo story of recycled being has been devised and accompanied with a commentary by Petr Šmalec and Markéta Šimková. Petr Šmalec has become acclaimed by his author book The Šmalec ABC’s which won the 2005 Most Beautiful Czech Book Prize.

Šmalec who ranks among the most distinct talents in current Czech illustration is appreciated for his purely graphic style buoyed by humour.
