Děti, Jiří Dvořák, Tereza Horváthová / Stromovka

This ABC of Precious Trees, illustrated by children, presents a unique project within the Czech book market, both in its content and its origins. The illustrations accompanying the text, together with tree-themed graphic stories, were created by children themselves. These were inspired by the writings of Jiří Dvořák and Tereza Horváthová and developed under the guidance of experienced artists.

Stromovka offers small-scale sketches about the nature, origin, height, beauty and usefulness of trees, with descriptions based on real species. These examples are supplemented by stories of 'surreal' and 'mythic' trees that often originate from inspiration gained during art workshops. Adult and children authors explored the essence of trees, seeking to discover different things that interconnect with trees; this took place, for example, during printing with bark and painting with olive oil or lime-tree tea.
