Tereza Říčanová / World Pictures

The book titled World Pictures represents so far the most extensive book project by painter, illustrator and literary author Tereza Říčanová. The result of her three-year toil as well as her passionate painting zest is a series of fourteen rich painting mapping out the basic and rudimentary themes and scenes of human existence marked since time immemorial both by fantasy and well as realities, be it the universe, forest, city, castles, ice-capped mountains or sea…

The author leads us to the depths of collective as well as her own mind, interpreting the world around us using her unique – and as she says – crazy way, mixing stories, phenomena and contextures into a magic network presented for a never-ending and very detailed exploration.

The paintings are accompanied by an extensive guidebook in which she describes in detail the individual story action, characters and scenes. The text is very enlightening, witty and symbolic, so that delving on the maps and the guidebook one is immersed in the paintings as if transfixed by reading an adventurous story.
