Chrudoš Valoušek, Renata Bellingerová / The Golden Carrot

Two wild fairy tales using a classic plot but also the logic and swiftness of the new millennium, inspired by myths and legends, such as that of a golden carrot which suddenly sprouts in a vegetable patch, and what is does for the poor and the rich of the kingdom, or about the consequences of the Sun's and Wind's fairness.
The author's storytelling zest is like a storm, for she is straightforward, witty, touching as well as cruel, but first of all she is after the essence as she states that a golden carrot may not be of any good to a hungry poor man, or that the mills of God do not usually grind in vain even though man may try to outwit them. Intertwining and supplementing each other, the images and the text in this rather small but impressive book for children form a single, integrated unit.
