Dagmar Urbánková / Carnival Figures
The book-cum-toy created by illustrator, literary author and stage designer Dagmar Urbánková is based on a much rewarding principle of cut pages facilitating the reader to combine and compose figures inventory to carnivals and feasts. Children will find old-time impersonation masks both past and present. The book is a sampler of representation means (drawing, painting, embroidery, collage), but also a catalogue of pre-computer age fonts (wood grotesque, aureate tuscany, heavy egyptienne) as well as a most welcome chance for word play.
