Michaela Kukovičová, Olga Černá / The Magic Torch

Franta is an ordinary boy with a big wish: he longs for a dog. However, his parents maintain that a dog is out of the question. Franta’s wish comes true only when he meets an old conjuror who gives him a torch with light infusing life into ordinary things such as castaway plastic bottles, needles, twigs, shoelaces or cigarette butts. However, the transformation isn't all that simple, for whichever of these strange things comes alive, Franta must take care of it. With Petdoggie (a PET bottle dog) it is easy, but what to do with a living hair ball, or a giant feather comforter caterpillar?

Illustrator Michaela Kukovičová, with the magic torch of her art, has brought to life a variety of inanimate images, letters, décors and structures cut out from discarded magazines, wallpaper and advertising flyers, creating a parallel fairytale world.
